Shown only once as a kid (1st and RJrCH), Annie was very well blended, board-level, had a long bone pattern and was quite stylish.   Annie's fore udder was nicely extended, scoring a "42" in LA at two yrs. of age.   She peaked at eight and a half lbs of milk as a yearling.   Her highlight for 2004 was at the  National show where Annie was 2nd of 56 in the milking yearling class behind a doe that turned 2 yrs old the week after Nationals!  In 2005 Annie freshened with a single kid so only milked about what she had as a yearling.  In spite of this she did exceptionally well at all her 2005 shows and earned her three championship legs.  In 2006,  our well-mannered Annie freshened with triplets and milked a consistent 17 lbs of milk per day .

All of Annie's kids have consistently been very pretty, correct and typey.
Annie looked superb at the 2008 National Show in Kentucky where she placed 5th (Peek-a-boo was third in the same class).
We then took her to only one local show in 2008  where she captured Best in Show honors.  What a doe!
At nine years of age, Annie's udder, rump, feet and legs were still the same as in her 5 year old photo.  Her rump was undeniably one of the best in the herd.

Portia is the most massive doe in the herd with a stature of 40 as a two-year old.   She excells in frame size, spring and openess-of-ribbing  and smoothness-of-blending.  Portia probably has the best overall general appearance in the herd.
In the Spring of 2009, Portia was milking 8.3 pounds daily.  She was shown five times in the milking yearling classes, and placed 1st each time, excelling  the rest of the class in size, scale and mammary! Like her dam, Portia is strong-boned and tracks straight ahead.
The Spring of 2010, Portia freshened in excellent condition and  consistently milked between 10 and 11 lbs per day.   She is not a fussy doe when it comes to diet.  If there is hay of any type in front of her, Portia is sure to have a full barrel every time.
Portia looked wonderful at the Nationals and placed eighth in a class with depth of excellence.  She got sick a few days after returning from Louisville, most probably due to the really high ammonia levels in the barn air there.  That plus the extremely hot weather for the rest of the Summer caused us to choose for her to remain home from shows for the rest of 2010.   She was bred to Alexander and had a single doe kid that looks like Portia all over again!   We are so pleased!
Even though Portia appraised "only" a 36 in stature in 2011, she is every bit as tall as Avalanche who scored a 42.  I probably didn't have her legs squarely under her when the measurement was taken.  The appraiser told us that Portia's having had only a single kid affected her scores this year since her udder was decidedly smaller and she carried more fleshing than needed.

Of all the Rushkin daughters we have had, Portia most resembles her granddam Rivkah in size scale and conformation.
Portia missed the first shows of the 2011 season due to a sprained pastern.  She then went GCH, BOB and BIS in July giving her the second leg of her championship.

Portia's kidding in 2012 was a disappointment as she had a fine set of twins but for some uknown reason did not "freshen".   There was no colostrum nor milk in her udder.  In fact, there was absolutely NO udder development at all.   It was as if she had been totally dried off.   Vets and other breeders suggested that she might have a hormone inbalance.  We have worked on bringing her into milk, but we were only able to get her udder to hold about 5 lbs of milk  as is evidenced in her 2012 photo.  Portia's general appearance however, is next to perfect.

We did take Portia to a show late in the season where she acquired her final leg toward her championship!

We have line-bred Portia to Aragon for a late February kidding.

This poor gal had a rough start in life.  At only one week of age, Avalanche (you know goats) managed to somehow hook her right hock in one of our supposedly made-for-baby goats  wooden hay mangers, leaving her dangling in mid air.   She permanently damaged the joint and was basically immobile for about three weeks with the entire hock being severely enlarged and twisted out of correct position, cutting off much of the circulation.    As a result the rear leg  development has been retarded and is only about 2/3 the width of the other rear leg.   Some days it affects her gait in the show ring and at other times it does not.
Oh, so very tall and a very special lady in our herd,  Avalanche is extremely similar to her dam in conformation (see Allegheny on our
archives page). She is extreme in body length, legginess and strength of topline.
Despite her leg issue, Avalanche is so nice conformation-wise that she will remain in our herd.    As a first freshener, Avalanche milked 7.8 lbs at 6 weeks fresh.   Her udder is "all milk" and looks as if it may very well be one of the best in the herd!!!
Avalanche made her show debut at the 2010 Nationals where she walked timidly around the ring.  She still was pulled out of the lineup with the first selections from her class.   As a yearling Avalanche looked immature, being a "mile" long and all legs.  But we trust that as a 4 or 5 year old she will  eventually grow into that gangly frame of hers.

At her first show of the 2011 season, Avalanche went GCH, BOB and BIS in the first ring and ResGCH in the second ring.

Avalanche kidded with a lovely set of triplets in 2012.  One of the does and her buck remain here.   Unfortuantely, Avalanche is our one milker who stresses too much during the hot weather and goes off feed.   Because of this she needs to be shown during cooler weather  as she completely loses her barrel during the hot months when temps in the barn sometimes don't go below 80 degrees at night...  Her udder is phenomenal!

At our final show for the 2012  season, Avalanche went GCH at The Great Frederick Fair.  This should be the final leg of her championship!

Avalanche kidded with two big kids ( 10 lbs and 11 lbs) sired by Triumph.

A very smooth uphill doe, A La Carte is very correct and has excellent width of rump which enables her to easily carry her well attached wide rear udder.   She is a dependable doe with tremendous will-to-milk, peaking close to 15 pounds of milk and leveling off about a pound or two less.   She maintains production through most of her pregnancy.

Shown only once in 2007, A La Carte was an easy 1st place, and in 2008 went 1xGCH and 4xResGCH.  She garnered her second milking leg in 2009 under Teresa Baker.

We love her general appearance and show ring presence.   She finished her championship her first day in the show ring  in 2010 and also went BOB over two challengers.

A La Carte looked amazing as a 4 yr old and, showed herself beautifully at the 2010 Nationals.   She was immediately pulled out of the lineup along with five other very lovely does.  Placings  were extremely close.

As a five year old, Carte had only a single kid and is milking a bit less than she has in previous years.  She still stands solidly on her feet and legs, and went Best of Breed her first day out for the season and then BOB and BIS at our final (4th) show of 2011.

At age six, Carte freshened with a beautiful set of triplets.   One remains with us and the other two were sold overseas to Russian breeders.

Carte is one of our all-time favorites, remaining strong, solid and correct at seven years of age.   She kidded on February 15, 2013 via C-section.

Petrova was probably our favorite junior doe right from her time of birth.  Big from the get-go, she immediately  stood right up and  bounded into our hearts.
As a  mature-looking doeling, Petrova was  powerful, correct, tall and really long-bodied. There isn't anything we would want to change about general appearance.  Petrova, the last kid from our super-champion Peek-a-boo, is every bit as nice as her dam, including a  wonderful temperment.
She looks wonderful at this point in her growth, smoothness and development.    She was our heaviest milking doe in 2012, producing sixteen pounds at two months fresh.

A nice solid package, Janette is a strong sweet yearling with the most laid-back temperment we have ever had in ANY goat in our herd.  For an Alpine, this is amazing!   Her globular udder is socked-on and is producing between 7 and 8 pounds daily.   Her teats are a nice size and shape, very well-delineated from her udder.  While Belle's fore udder is smoother, Janette's udder overall is wider than is Belle's and we think higher into her escutcheon.
Janette was shown in at three shows in 2012 and placed a strong second place each time  to our own Belle (see doe listed above).
Her 2012 twins were sold into show herds.  Janette has been bred to Triumph for late February kids.

Belle was the longest of the doe kids born in 2011.  Her conformation is a wonderful blending of her sire and dam.  Belle is level over her topline and extremely smooth throughout with nice tight shoulders.  Her coloring is a red-toned chamoisee with black trim.

She freshened prematurely with triplets and is milking about 8 lbs per day out of a wonderfully soft udder.  Her fore udder is quite long and smoothly blended into her body.  Her rear is nice and wide.  her teats are a pleasing  shape and size.
Belle loves to show herself off in the ring as is evidenced by her alert ear set in the photos.  She floats around the ring.  She was shown only once as a kid and placed first and went reserve junior champion.  Belle was shown under four different judges as a yearling and topped her class each time.   At one show the judge loved her so much that she placed her as Reserve Senior Grand Champion!
Belle kidded with triplet bucks sired by Triumph.
